Pros & Cons of Social media Influence
We are living in a world where it is all digital, from working from home to going to school online to the point where you do not have to go anywhere to be able to even get food to eat. You can even have an online training session with online coaches that does not require going anywhere physically. Social Media has become a big part of many lives, here are some pros & cons:

Looking at the Positives:

-
Social media can help others to start looking more into one's health. There are a lot of pages out there where it strictly talks about the benefits of being active and ways to eat better to better their health. Studies have also shown that social media use was associated with a higher likelihood of vigorous daily exercise (Shimoga et al., 2019)
-
There are benefits to giving someone that you see living a healthy and active life a follow on social media because what they post can give you the drive to reach your goals especially with the youth and young adults since social media is an influential tool they can use. Given the time that is spent on social media posting pictures of being physically active has increased talk of physical activity, which then can lead to an increase in physical activity participation. In this case, then this can enhance levels of physical activity to better ones health (Devitus et al., 2020)
Looking at the Negatives:
-
Time Consuming: Social Media can be very distracting in that you can spend hours of you day just mindlessly scrolling without even realizing it. This can become such a routine that you will wonder what and why you cannot get anything done in the day.
-
High expectations: One has to realize that what people post on social media is just a fragment of those people's lives and not get so involved the people's lives that they are following and wonder if their life does not look like that.
-
Mental damages: It can cause increased feelings of depression, lower self-esteem, or social comparison. (Perloff, 2014)
